Stay tuned as we roll out our Pediatric Mass Casualty Training Program. The program will focus on the rapid triage and assessment of pediatric patients in a disaster situation. The program will be conducted at CSTAR Highland Park.

We would like to thank them for generously providing us with the means necessary to carry out this important educational and patient safety initiative. Details to follow.

The Alvin H. Baum Family Fund provides CSTAR with funding for Obstetrics Simulators

We would like to recognize their generous support of CSTAR and the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Their funds have allowed us to purchase the “PROMPT™” and “NOELLE™” Maternal and Neonatal birthing simulators. These state-of-the art simulation tools have allowed us to partner with Ian Grable, MD, MPH, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal and Fetal Medicine, to implement a shoulder dystocia training for OB/GYN attendings and nursing staffs at Evanston and Highland Park Hospital.

This important initiative provided focused experential learning and team training that will provide real impact with earlier recognition of shoulder dystocia, superior teamwork mechanisms, and safer patient care.

Future collaboration on the Post-Partum Hemorrhage training program is planned to begin in 2009.
